Taking place next Tuesday\, 19th December from 6-8pm\, it will be a chance to socialise\, buy books and have some cake to celebrate a year of House of Books & Friends. We’ll have HOBAF cupcakes\, and our café will be open too. Expect balloons\, party hats and good vibes as we look back over our first year. \nEntry is completely free and there’s no need to sign up – just turn up. Her extraordinary belief in the power of language – of speaking – to articulate selfhood\, confront injustice and bring about change in the world remains as transformative today as it was then\, and no less urgent. \nYour Silence Will Not Protect You brings Lorde’s poetry and prose together for the first time. Published posthumously in 2017\, It is the first time a British publisher collected Lorde’s work into one volume. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Kate  \nKate Feld is a writer who grew up in in the U.S. state of Vermont and now lives outside Manchester\, UK. She writes poetry\, short fiction\, essays and prose that sits between forms. Her writing explores the natural world\, mythology and the unconscious\, often taking the form of lyric narratives that both interrogate and celebrate lived experience. Her work has been published widely in journals and anthologies including The Stinging Fly\, The Letters Page\, Hotel and Tolka. She is the founding editor of UK creative nonfiction journal and reading series The Real Story\, and lectures in Journalism at the University of Salford. Her chapbook of poetry and photography\, Deeryard\, is forthcoming from Death of Workers Whilst Building Skyscrapers.

Spanning fifty years of her life and work\, Space Crone brings together Le Guin’s writings on feminism and gender for the first time\, offering new insights into her imaginative\, multispecies feminist consciousness: from its roots in deep ecology and philosophies of non-violence to her self-education about racism and her writing on motherhood and ageing. \n \nAbout Kate \nKate Feld is a writer who grew up in in the U.S. state of Vermont and now lives outside Manchester\, UK. She writes poetry\, short fiction\, essays and prose that sits between forms. Her writing explores the natural world\, mythology and the unconscious\, often taking the form of lyric narratives that both interrogate and celebrate lived experience. Her work has been published widely in journals and anthologies including The Stinging Fly\, The Letters Page\, Hotel and Tolka. She is the founding editor of UK creative nonfiction journal and reading series The Real Story\, and lectures in Journalism at the University of Salford. Her chapbook of poetry and photography\, Deeryard\, is forthcoming from Death of Workers Whilst Building Skyscrapers.
