About the book
Paper Illness is a collection of poetry by Raymond Meade, best known as the bass player of British rock band Ocean Colour Scene. These poems explore his relationship with health and loss, alongside observations of everyday life following his multiple sclerosis diagnosis of 2021.
The book is illustrated by his friend, the acclaimed Scottish artist Peter Howson, whose work often explores themes of faith, conflict and redemption. Howson remains one of Scotland’s most distinctive contemporary artists, celebrated for his intense emotional honesty.
